If you are working in early childhood education and care in Queensland and wondering, “Do I qualify for the CHC50125 Diploma?”, the answer depends mainly on the qualification you already hold and your work experience.

You meet the national qualification entry pathway if you hold CHC30121 Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care, its equivalent successor qualification, or CHC30113 Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care. CHC30125 is the current equivalent successor to CHC30121, so it meets the qualification pathway specified for CHC50125.

If you hold an Australian Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, an Australian Diploma in Children’s Services or an Australian Certificate III in Children’s Services, the alternative pathway requires either at least 12 months of cumulative full-time-equivalent employment within the last five years in a regulated education and care service in Australia, supported by verifiable evidence, or CHCSS00147 Entry Into Diploma Of Early Childhood Education And Care Skill Set.

At Venture Education, we help educators confirm their eligibility before enrolling, so you can choose the right pathway with confidence.

Check If You Qualify For The CHC50125 Diploma

The fastest way to understand your eligibility is to check your qualification code and experience.

As of August 2026, accepted entry pathways include:

  • CHC30121 Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care (or equivalent successor qualification)
  • CHC30113 Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care
  • An Australian Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, an Australian Diploma in Children’s Services or an Australian Certificate III in Children’s Services, plus either:
  • 12 months cumulative full-time-equivalent employment within the last five years, or
  • CHCSS00147 Entry Into Diploma Of Early Childhood Education And Care Skill Set

The current Certificate III qualification is CHC30125 Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care. It supersedes and is equivalent to CHC30121, which means it meets the equivalent-successor qualification pathway specified for CHC50125. Venture Education can confirm any provider-specific enrolment, workplace and compliance requirements that apply to you.

Check your eligibility and confirm your pathway with an enrolment advisor.

Understand Your Entry Pathway

If You Hold CHC30125

CHC30125 is the current Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and is the equivalent successor to CHC30121. It therefore meets the qualification pathway specified for CHC50125. Venture Education can confirm the remaining enrolment, workplace and compliance requirements for your circumstances.

If You Hold CHC30121

CHC30121 is specifically listed as an accepted entry qualification for CHC50125. The separate 12-month employment condition is not attached to this pathway in the national entry requirements.

If You Hold CHC30113

CHC30113 is also specifically listed as an accepted entry qualification. The separate 12-month employment condition is not attached to this pathway in the national entry requirements, although provider-specific enrolment, workplace or compliance requirements may still apply.

If You Hold An Older Children’s Services Qualification

You need either:

  • 12 months cumulative full-time-equivalent employment within the last five years, supported by verifiable evidence, or
  • CHCSS00147 Entry Into Diploma Skill Set.

What Is The CHC50125 Diploma?

The CHC50125 Diploma Of Early Childhood Education And Care is a nationally recognised qualification for educators working in regulated children’s education and care services.

It prepares you for higher-level responsibilities such as curriculum planning, children’s learning and development, compliance and quality practice, partnerships with families, team leadership and service operations.

Do I Need 12 Months Of Experience?

Not always. The 12-month employment requirement applies to the alternative pathway for specified older Early Childhood Education and Care or Children’s Services qualifications. It is not an additional national entry condition for CHC30121, its equivalent successor such as CHC30125, or CHC30113.

What “12 Months Cumulative Full-Time Equivalent” Means

If this requirement applies to you, here’s what it means in practice:

✔ Cumulative

Your eligible experience can be added together across time rather than coming from one continuous 12-month period.

✔ Full-Time Equivalent

Part-time or casual employment may count, but the hours need to be assessed as full-time equivalent.

✔ Within The Last 5 Years

The employment used for this pathway must fall within the required five-year period.

✔ Verified Evidence

Your employment must be supported by verifiable evidence. Venture Education can confirm what documents are required for your circumstances.

No 12 Months Experience? Your Alternative Pathway

If the employment condition applies to you and you cannot demonstrate it, CHCSS00147 Entry Into Diploma Of Early Childhood Education And Care Skill Set may provide another pathway. CHCSS00147 is a skill set, not the full Diploma, and contributes towards satisfying the Diploma entry requirements for eligible people.
