1. Do you love children?

There's no two ways about it. You need to absolutely love children in order to even think about a career in childcare. Children are gorgeous and sweet, they make you smile and will help you to find the simple things in life enjoyable. However, they are dependent on the adults around them to help them with everything, from sitting up to eating, toileting to sleeping, they are busy exploring everything they can get their hands on. 2. Are you willing to study?

It is a legal requirement that in order to work in a childcare facility that you need to have either completed or be studying towards a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education. The certificate takes about 12 months to complete and you will also need to complete 120 hours of hands on work experience. 3. Do you want to work your way up?

Some people study for years on end to then be able to enter the workforce into a senior position.
